Labor leader and Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) advisor Sahidullah Chowdhury (83) is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He breathed his last at his residence in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.

Sahidullah Chowdhury was known as the former president of CPB, president of Trade Union Center (TUC) and member of advisory council of Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies (BILS).
After starting his career as a general laborer in Latif Bawani Jute Mill in 1964, he was active in labor movement for more than half a century. Despite suffering from various physical complications due to old age, he led the jute mill workers' movement from 2020 and was the convenor of the Jute-Yarn and Textile Mill Workers' Struggle Council for a long time.
Leaders of CPB, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASD), Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh and Bills have expressed deep happiness and sadness over the death of Sahidullah Chowdhury. CPB President Mohammad Shah Alam and General Secretary Ruhin Hossain said in a statement that he led the country's labor movement, especially the jute mill workers movement, for many years and his contribution to the struggle for the rights and freedom of working people will be remembered with respect.
According to CPB, tributes will be paid to Sahidullah Chowdhury at the central office of CPB in Nayapaltan tomorrow Saturday at 9 am. After that, his body will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar through a mourning rally from 10 am to 11 pm.
