Toofan Movie Review: Shakib Khan Delivers an Entertaining Performance

Directed by Raihan Rafi (known for *Surongo* and *Poramon 2*), *Toofan* marks Shakib Khan's 250th film and is a gripping, action-packed thriller. The story follows Toofan, who rises to power after killing a notorious goon at just 15. Recognizing his potential, he is taken under the wing of the infamous don Bashir (played by Misha Sawdagor), leading him down a path of increasing cruelty and recklessness. However, as his violent rise catches the government's attention, they plot to eliminate him, forcing Toofan to rely on his doppelganger, struggling actor Shanto, to escape his fate.

The film draws inspiration from various classics, reminiscent of titles like *Om Shanti Om*, *Don*, *Animal*, and *KGF*. The two primary songs, “Dushtu Kokil” (by Kona and Akassh) and “Ura Dhura” (featuring Pritom Hasan and Debosrie Antara), evoke a sense of nostalgia, similar to iconic tracks from the ’90s. Additionally, the dialogue references the period’s pop culture and beloved actors like Salman Shah. While the plot mainly centers on its titular character, it uses stereotypes, exaggerated wigs, and humorous quips to create a mostly entertaining experience. The film starts slowly but picks up the pace dramatically in the second half, delivering a tense and blood-soaked narrative. Sharp editing by Jobayar Abir Peal and impressive cinematography by Tahsin Rahman enhance the thrilling chase, leading to an explosive climax.

Shakib Khan shines in his dual role, embodying the innocent Shanto while portraying the ruthless Toofan with authority. Mimi Chakraborty, as Suchona, offers a more compelling performance compared to the less developed Julie, played by Masuma Rahman Nabila. Supporting roles by Loknath Dey and Gazi Rakayet further enrich the terror around Sultan's character, establishing him as a relentless killer. Notably, Chanchal Chowdhury leaves a chilling impression as ACP Akram in a brief but impactful role. Overall, *Toofan* showcases Shakib Khan’s charisma and a blend of action and drama, making it a captivating watch.
